My June Something - Day 1

I rarely post but I decided to participate as much as I can in squidgie's June Something. I think I can handle a post or two (or maybe every day of the June Something! I'll try really hard).

Anyhoo, the Day 1 question is:
Did you miss us? We're back! Just kidding. Question: What show or movie original cast would you like to see reunite for an update - where the intervening time has passed and we're getting a view of where they are now along with glimpses on how they got there?

1) Well, I didn't miss it because I never participated before, but I'm happy to give it a shot. And...

B. omg, the possibilities here are too many and too much fun. I second squidgie's due South update - that would be wonderful. I need to know what Kowalski and Fraser are up to now, what happened after they went to find the Hand of Franklin, and everything they did in between.

But... there are other fannish series/movies for which I'd love to see updates if I ruled the world and could make them happen.

In no particular order, I'd like to see updates on:

• Forever Knight. If I could wave a magic wand - and despite the awful series ending (no spoilers), for which there was a fannish Virtual Fourth Season that was group written and fixed the awful ending - I would love to see what all the principal characters were up to ... most especially Detective Nick Knight, Dr. Natalie Lambert, Lucien LaCroix (of course LaCroix! my favorite villain to love! I mean hate! I mean, love/hate!), Janette DuCharme, Nick's S1-S2 partner Detective Don Schanke...
  
  ...but also the minor characters, including those that were only thrown into seasons because the series was - like due South - cancelled and revived at the end of the first two seasons before its final cancellation at the end of (like due South!) Season 3. So some characters were killed, and new ones were added... So, in addition to the principal characters, we had Nick's S3 partner Tracy Vetter, 3 different Captains (Captains Stonetree, Reese, and Cohen), Natalie's morgue assistant Grace, and the S3 vampires: Vachon, Urs, and Screed.
  
  I'd love to see an update on all those wonderful characters. It would of course require a series finale fixit, but the fen solved that problem 30 years ago with the group effort of the Virtual Fourth Season of FK - all written by fen, lol! We can start from the end of the Virtual Fourth Season.
  
  Forever Knight got me into fandom. Got me into online fandom. Led me to my OTF, due South. Forever Knight also got me to go to a fan con, take a couple trips to Toronto (where it was set) (beginning my love affair with Canada/Canadiana), and got me into writing fic. My very first fanfic (slash, of course!) was a Nick/LaCroix fic. I never did write more in Forever Knight, tho I had many plot bunnies. I was content to read the tons of great fanfic already out there.
  
  
• Lost Girl
  Like Forever Knight's series finale, the series finale (hell, the last couple seasons) was a disappointment. And why are these fantasy shows so often shoehorned into cop shows?? it's like that's all TV writers know!). But I'd love to see what Light Fae succubus Bo is up to...
  
  ...including Dyson, her Light Fae wolf-shifter love interest; and Lauren, her human love interest; and Kenzi, her tough, human BFF; and Hale, Dyson's Light Fae siren partner; Trick, Light Fae elder/leader/protector/Blood Sage and author of the Light Fae/Dark Fae truce; The Ash...
  
  But I'd also love to see what my favorite Dark Fae are up to: Tamsin the Valkyrie (no spoilers but I hated her ending); Vex, the Mesmer and hitman for the Morrigan; and that Leanan Sidhe bitch herself, Evony The Morrigan, who was so good at being so bad.
  
  FWIW, Lost Girl is now available streaming on The CW app (free with ads - lots of ads *sadface*), but that may be georestricted. I'm not sure.
  
  
  
• Moonlight (the one season vampire series)
  Way before he was on H5O, Alex O'Loughlin played vampire detective (see what I mean??) Mick St. John on the ill-fated (d/t the Writer's Guild strike that year) Moonlight, which the network sank as if it was intentional, by moving the broadcast day and time around to death slots like Friday nights.
  
  Of course Moonlight ended in no way like I would've wanted it to - and with so many loose ends. I would ignore the canon... and would love to see what Mick, Josef (the slashy possibilities!!), and Beth are up to - and what happened to Coraline.
  
  
• V for Vendetta
  I need to know what became of Evey Hammond and Chief Inspector Finch.
  
  
• True Detective (Season 1)
  Rust and Marty. Maggie and the girls. Need to know what happened to all of them.
  
  Well, that's about it... and that's plenty, I guess. 🙂

Moonlight! I have it on dvd. :)

Me too! Yay. But before it came out on DVD (by the fourth episode, actually), I bought the entire season on Amazon Video, so I could stream it whenever I missed broadcast episodes. (At the time, my work schedule changed every 6 weeks, so I knew I would miss a lot of broadcast eps. Little did I know it would be the ONLY season of Moonlight.) So now I can (re)watch it old school or high tech! 🙂

Oooooh, Forever Knight is a good choice! I'm always a bit iffy on reboots/remakes, because so much of the charm of these shows is in the chemistry of that particular cast, but a reunion...

This is reminding me that it's been a while since I revisited my favorite Forever Knight episodes. I'm down for a reunion as long as Janette is there. :D

Hi! Here via The June Something. Love seeing Moonlight love! (I, too, immediately signed up for the season on Amazon video). And someone who loves both Forever Knight and Moonlight. I mostly see fans who love one and don't like the other (I was never into FK but had friends that were).

Oh, yes, I loved both! FK was my first fandom EVAR. And Moonlight had so much potential... I was really really pissed the way the network treated it. It was like they wanted it to fail. (Battle Creek, too. Not a vampire show, but yet another show that started out great & had so much potential & was treated like the network wanted it to fail. Sigh.)

I have a Mick/Beth/Josef WIP I started way back when the series was first broadcast... And another WIP of Josef helping Coraline help Mick -- then just helping Mick directly, with freshies -- after she first turns Mick & he can't cope with it because she screwed it up so badly, what with it being a nonconsensual surprise on their wedding night...

I'll probably never finish either (my WIP collection across multiple fandoms probably exceeds the number of completed fics I have on AO3, sigh), but I'd like to. Eventually. Someday...

Though I should probably finish the Nick/Natalie/LaCroix WIP I began during Syfy's FK syndication run in the late 90s, first. 🙂

Funny how vampire series kind of lend themselves to canonical, or at least semi-canonical, threesomes... I mean, Nick/Janette/LaCroix was canon... & Nick/Natalie/LaCroix was nearly so; some fen might consider it to be canon... & I think it could be legitimately argued that it was. Certainly it was a love triangle, if only in one episode & as LaCroix's vengeance for being forced to give up Fleur...

It was a shame about Moonlight never getting the chance it deserved, but on the other hand, I'm not sure they wouldn't have ruined it. That's just me being cynical because it happens so often. Mostly I miss the fandom; I spend so many great hours hanging out at the forums.

I think vampires are seen as having more fluid sexuality than humans; that's probably why.
