I'm not used to this fanfic bingo thing. Like, for all the years I've been in fandom and fannish... I've never before done any kind of fannish bingo. Which seems like an egregious omission on my part, but there's no intent or reason behind it - it just never happened for some reason.
So I'm super excited to finally be doing a bingo AND it's for leaving comments on fics! So even if I don't get bingo, everybody wins anyway: I get to read fic, fic authors get happy comments from me, I get to fill out a square on my bingo card, AND I get to post fic recs!
Which leads me to my first square on my bingo card and my first rec:
My work posted in 2021 fic is Heaven help a fool who falls in love - and is so spot-on with Kowalski's and Fraser's characterizations that I want to lie down in this fic, pull it over my head, and snuggle happily down into it - it's just that good. It gets them so damned well. It's a combination of visceral, sensual, and cinematic in its descriptions; their voices are absolutely spot-on; it gets angsty (which I love); and they get a happy ending (my favorite kind of angst!). The POV is Ray's but it's so uniquely done, all from the nonverbal body language that we know from canon Kowalski is "particularly sensitive to" - his and Fraser's body language, and how it cuts through all the verbal (almost). It's told so well, with an intense economy of words and descriptions - I can't believe this author has only written two dS fics because, holy cow: there should be more, more, and more due South fic by this author.
Yay, first bingo square (and another AO3 bookmark!)!

a work from a drama canon | a fic between 1-5k | a work posted in 2024 | a work you've left kudos on | a fic with multiple chapters |
a work by someone you've come across recently | 5 drabbles (works of 100 words each) | a work from an action/adventure canon | a work posted in 2021 | a work posted in 2020 |
a oneshot | a fic you reread often | FREE SPACE | a work that amused you | a fic that's under 1k |
a work posted in 2023 | a work from a movie canon | a fic you first read over 1 year ago | a work that has two of your favorite tags | a canon compliant work |
a work posted in 2014 | a work posted in 2010 | a work by someone who's given you a kudos or a comment | a work posted in 2011 | a work from an event from 2023 |
