Date: 2025-04-29 12:43 am (UTC)Maybe her email got hacked or she got locked out of it due to any number of things (it got hacked & used for spamming; she got phished; she entered the wrong password too many times & couldn't reset it)... So she had to create a new email.
I was locked out of my original verushka70 Hotmail for several years because it got hacked & used for spamming. No matter what I did, Microsoft wouldn't let me into it, wouldn't let me change the password - it was just locked. I was more than a little pissed off. I had a bunch of people's email addresses & more than a few story stubs I had started & emailed to myself on that account.
So I created a different, similar but not the same, Hotmail account. But I lost access to a bunch of people's email addresses. I could still contact people through LJ, but there were people who never got on LJ I lost touch with (like people on Asylum who went to Yahoo groups but never made it to LJ, let alone DW).
Then one day literally YEARS later - I want to say it was almost a decade - just for sh!ts & giggles, I tried to get into it... and for some reason, Microsoft let me in! I was able to reset the password & everything! It was really bizarre.
Of course, because it had been locked & not used for years, EVERYTHING WAS DELETED. 😱🤬 So I was never able to get people's contact info back that had been lost, if it was only on the Hotmail account that I got locked out of for years.
But it's just a guess on my part that that's what happened. My point is... it happens... & it's easy to get locked out of one's account 🙁 & not be able to get back in. ☹️
