Gamecube hockey, Veronica Mars

verushka70Playing NHL hockey on the Gamecube with my 9 year old nephew while I babysat Friday-Sunday this past weekend resulted in (a) increased wrist pain and (b) him kicking my ass. Sigh. I'm too old/damaged for this shit. But the controller shakes when you body check a guy (or get body checked). So. Yeah. Cool. Yes, I am easily amused. Or 38 going on 13... the Atari days! Too bad my wrists feel like they're 60 yrs old, instead of 13 -- or 38.
The local UPN affiliate airs Veronica Mars' new episodes twice, which is really nice (and they used to do that, years ago, with the 3rd season of Due South). So I took a break from working on my presentation for school to re-watch this week's episode "The Quick and the Wed" again last night. Oh, the woes that incorporation will bring to Neptune, if the econ teacher's example of Palo Alto is anything to go by. Ya gotta love a show that tells you just how bad it could get ("murder capital" of the US).
And then there's Logan. Logan, Logan, Logan. He has that hurt-boy look sometimes that makes you just want to grab him and hug him. Then there's the cool, cute, "psychotic jackass" look. And then he has that sociopathic ability to compartmentalize -- a skill I thought men didn't develop 'til they were much older! But then, I didn't date in high school, so what do I know about teenage boys. Plus he's cute and young and, as Kendall (Charisma Carpenter) showed us, eminently trainable, with the stamina and endurance of youth. (What a lucky woman... well, for a while, 'til he got rid of her.)
But it's so telling that Logan comes to Veronica about having slept with Hannah before her sleazy plastic surgeon father made a deal to make his testimony against Logan "go away." Ooops. Well, bad timing on Dr. Griffith's part... he should have arrived sooner and stopped it.
And what does Logan tell Veronica when he shows up at her door (what is this, getting to be a habit with him)? "I think I've done something horrible."
Well, yes, Logan, you have. And if I were a sane, rational person, I'd want to smack the shit out of you for it. But I admire your survival-at-all-costs instincts, evil as they may be. It's too bad you have to mess with Hannah to ensure your own survival, and then run to Veronica to try to head off the consequences. (Plus you're so fuckable looking. And you've got that chemistry with Veronica... and Weevil...)
That's it, of course: Veronica is Logan's conscience. Yeah. And Veronica is cute when she's jealous -- or righteous. Or both!
Clearly, I need some Veronica/Logan stuff to read. I need to get my VM season 1 DVDs back from my sister in law...
And when the heck do we get some more Weevil?
The people over at http://www.marsinvestigations.net/ have a good time and their site is fanfuckingtastic. If I had time and wrist endurance, I'd be discussing VM with them. But there's school. And ...school. And... unfinished other fanfic (in DS and HCL). And the new VM eps come out at such a slooooow pace, it seems.
