how to rip DVD extras with DVDDecrypter

You can rip extras or individual chapters using DVDDecrypter as follows.



First make sure you have the most recent version of DVDDecrypter. This site has the most recent version.

Now open DVDDecrypter. The default mode is probably set to ISO (maybe IFO). It looks like this (below) and you can tell what it is set to by clicking on Mode:



Next, choose File under Mode, like this:



This changes the information about the DVD displayed in the right side of the DVDDecrypter screen. Take a look at these files. Scroll down. Look at the file names and the sizes:



Now choose the one you want. VST_xx_0.VOB files are always DVD menu animation or video. You don't want that.

(Remember, 1,000.00 KB = 1 Megabyte and 1,000,000.00+ KB = 1 Gigabyte.)

VOB files sized 1,000,000+ KB and over are main chapters for a movie. You don't want them either.

Look for a VOB file that isn't a VTS_xx_0.VOB and is less than one Gig (1,000,000.00+ KB). In the case below, I selected the 189,424 KB file approximately 189 Megs):



After you've selected the VOB file you want, click the Decrypt button, like so:




After it's all ripped, go view it with VLC to make sure you ripped what you wanted.

Then convert VOB to AVI (or whatever vid format you want for, um, sharing) and you're done.
