Durham County (Hugh Dillon)

I am so loving this new Durham County series Hugh Dillon is in! I'm fuckin' falling in love with his troubled, basically-good-but-conflicted-and-only-human cop character Mike Sweeney. It's killing me! And, omg, a forum for him to showcase his maturity and range as an actor. I knew he had it in him, but it's so nice to finally get to see it. I knew it before DTTB -- how could you not, from HCL? -- but I wondered if he'd ever get that leading man opportunity in anything other than indie flicks that don't get shown in most of North America. Well, he sort of has with Durham County.
Fuck me, even (or especially?!?) bald he's hot (and I never, never thought I'd like that!)! And his character is not only a hunky cop (law enforcement accoutrement fetish showing) but also guilty and angsty. Yes, angsty! It's hitting all the right notes for me -- especially the guilt and angst. Serious squeeeee!
Then there is the whole dealing with his wife's cancer angle, to which I can kind of relate what with my mom's and my stepdad's cancers. I totally understand the whole "we're not talking about it but it invades every aspect of our lives and self-perception" vibe I'm getting.
This show should be picked up by some US network -- at least on cable or something. It's a crime that it's not (like so many other great Canadian series and movies).
That is all.
