can a song be a muse?

So I'm trying to get back on the horse of my behemoth Joe Dick/Jerry Bines HCL/FTWHTWD fic that I have been working on for, literally, years. It definitely isn't a songfic, because I didn't have a fanmix or "soundtrack" playing while writing it.

I only just recently re-listened to this particular song, and realized the angsty vibe goes very well with the story's angst. The song motivates me to get back to work on the story. Does that make the song a kind of muse?

They use a Theremin in it. It's Cup of Coffee by Garbage from their Beautiful Garbage CD.
