verushka70In the midst of flu-recovery ennui, I was watching "Love Is The Devil" (a film about Brit painter Francis Bacon, played by Derek Jacobi*, and his lover George, played by Daniel Craig). Despite the bdsm angle, it really isn't too enjoyable a film. Bacon was a cold, self-absorbed bastard. George was mentally ill. Both actors are great, 'course. Craig is hot as ever. (Loved the scene where he whispers, "Sorry" as a pre-emptive apology for the cigarette burn he's about to inflict on Bacon.) But it's a mean movie about mean, fucked up people. It's not even as amusing or gripping as "Prick Up Your Ears" was. I also have a sneaking suspicion that the version available here in the US has been edited to remove harder-core scenes. I hate that. Sigh.
But there was one amusing line in it, said by Francis:
"Cham-pagne for my real friends...
real pain for my sham friends."
Clever.
Well, thanks to a second round of antibiotics, I seem to be recovering from the sinus infection that was sapping me and raised my fever to 101.6 F on New Year's Eve. This really has been rather a crappy past year and a crappy xmas break from school -- I've been sick since the end of November, with only about a week's respite after the first round of antibiotics. I'll be well just in time to start school again! As Charlie Brown would say, Aaaaauuuuugggghhh!
In a continuing effort to procrastinate the spring cleaning of my apartment that is almost a year late (and which I swore I'd complete over the xmas break), I am considering participating in the porn battle. If it has to fit within a comment, well, I can easily reach 4,300 characters. But I don't have time to sort through all the prompts right now, searching for one that turns me on. And my sinus headache has returned. So, it's time for more NSAIDs and dinner.
